Jesus Going Into Retirement...for now

Well, JESUS CHRIST: The Lost Years is finally done it's summer run. It was immensely successful. Heldover in Toronto and Vancouver, more people saw this show than any previous Monster Theatre fringe show. (Hard to believe, i know) Bruce and I are heading to Winnipeg for a nearly 3 month run of, you guessed it, THE CANADA SHOW at MTYP. For the first time we'll have a native actor in the straight man role. Should be awesome.

Time to start figuring whats on the Monster Platter for next summer. Hmmm. Would you like a hint? It's about a guy who's been in a Monster Theatre show already.

Moving Right Along...

The Toronto run of JESUS CHRIST: The Lost Years has gone SMASHingly well. We were selected as one of the Patrons picks, so we have one last performance at 6:45 on Sunday July 16. There is a lovely 5 Star review on www.nowtoronto.com/fringe

So, next we move on to Winnipeg where I get to see my girlfriend!

We're at the PTE Mainspace in Winnipeg. Big theatre, lots of room, lots of seats...you should come! Looking forward to being back in the peg.

See you at the show!

Monster Theatre...Superstar!

I am now couch surfing in Toronto as we create our new show - JESUS CHRIST: The Lost Years. Starring myself and Katie Sanders. Directed by Bruce Horak...you all know him, right?

It promises to be a hit of the fringe circuit. And I think it will rival HISTORY OF THE FUTURE in Weirdness. We take Jesus on a wild and weird adventure. It's so good, it's hard to believe they cut this stuff from the bible!

We are doing a reading/preview at the esteemed 'Arts and Letters Club' of Toronto on June 30.
And open for rilla on Friday July 7 at 11pm at Theatre Passe Murraille - details at Monstertheatre.com

Don't miss this one!

Fuure is Past

Well, the Future is Past.

The History of the Future was another SMASH success for the Monsters at the High Performance Rodeo in Calgary. The festival was brilliant too. We saw some incredible shows - monstly dance adn music at this years Rodeo. The show also saw the addition of two new Monsters. Senior Mark Chavez, from Albequerque New Mexico of Sabotage/Pajama Men fame, directed the new show. And Geoff Bouckley, from Toronto of CHoice Beans Hockey Pool fame, was the lighting and set designer.

All eyes are now focussed on the upcoming HERE BE MONSTERS: a Carnival of the Arts. A Theatre (and other oddities) festival produced by Monster Theatre in conjunction with seventeenth floor performance company. At Performance works, on Granville island March 8-18. Including many exciting events - yet another Zaireeka!, SHOW-OFF: Theatre Under the Gun Reloaded, a re-mount of the brilliant play "Lazy Susan", a week of workshops with Keith Johnstone, and two nights of Micetro Impro. And, yes, you guessed it - parties and drink specials every night!

The best way to see it all is with a Carnival pass. For as low as $25 you get admission to every show, and cheaper drinks! We're talking $3. Wow! Cheaper than home!

Lastly, but not leastly - Monster Aaron Olney will be re-joining the other Monsters reprisinf his original role in THE CANADA SHOW for a short school tour in late february. Though most time and energy will be devoted to watching the Olympics in hotel rooms. Although we already know who's taking the gold for loudest clap - don't we?

Merry Secularistmas!

Happy Secularistmas!

Drinking season has finally arrived! I mean - Christmas. We are heading to the infamous Monster Cabin (where BIG ROCK SHOW was written and researched) to celebrate, skate on the lake, and, yes, you guessed it - possibly indulge in some alcoholic beverages.

I am reading the most spectacular book right now as part of my research for 'The History of the Future'. It's called "As the Future Catches You" by Juan Enriquez. It is absolutely brilliant! About the digital revolution, the upcoming genetic revolution, where the world is heading, who's getting left behind - and it's all written in a sort of pseudo-macluhan-style with changing fonts, pictures in the middle of sentences, room to make notes as you read. A pleasure - highly recommended for anyone who cares about the future.

I also did my first media interview for Rodeo production of 'Future'. It was in BeatRoute magazine, which is apparently a primarily music magazine. I didn't mention that I am tone deaf. Shh, don't tell!
