Fuure is Past
Well, the Future is Past.
The History of the Future was another SMASH success for the Monsters at the High Performance Rodeo in Calgary. The festival was brilliant too. We saw some incredible shows - monstly dance adn music at this years Rodeo. The show also saw the addition of two new Monsters. Senior Mark Chavez, from Albequerque New Mexico of Sabotage/Pajama Men fame, directed the new show. And Geoff Bouckley, from Toronto of CHoice Beans Hockey Pool fame, was the lighting and set designer.
All eyes are now focussed on the upcoming HERE BE MONSTERS: a Carnival of the Arts. A Theatre (and other oddities) festival produced by Monster Theatre in conjunction with seventeenth floor performance company. At Performance works, on Granville island March 8-18. Including many exciting events - yet another Zaireeka!, SHOW-OFF: Theatre Under the Gun Reloaded, a re-mount of the brilliant play "Lazy Susan", a week of workshops with Keith Johnstone, and two nights of Micetro Impro. And, yes, you guessed it - parties and drink specials every night!
The best way to see it all is with a Carnival pass. For as low as $25 you get admission to every show, and cheaper drinks! We're talking $3. Wow! Cheaper than home!
Lastly, but not leastly - Monster Aaron Olney will be re-joining the other Monsters reprisinf his original role in THE CANADA SHOW for a short school tour in late february. Though most time and energy will be devoted to watching the Olympics in hotel rooms. Although we already know who's taking the gold for loudest clap - don't we?
Monster Ryan
